If you’ve looked into automobile transporters, you already know that an enclosed trailer is going to set you back a bit more than the usual open one. The big question is, is it worth that extra cash? Most auto transporters are going to be pretty careful with your car anyway, so do you need to pay more to your auto shippers to have the vehicle moved in a trailer?

There are several factors here. While the open trailer is usually perfectly safe, it does allow exposure to the wind and rain, etc. Cars are built to withstand inclement weather, so this shouldn’t be a problem in most cases.

Something else to consider is that most auto shippers cannot drive straight to the destination. That means your car will be going the long route, stopping in several different places. This results in more exposure to the elements.

If you are shipping a car that is of very high value, you probably don’t want it out where the world can see it. This is also the case with vintage vehicles which may already be in delicate condition and may not stand the weather conditions.

When you need to move a regular car, you probably don’t need the enclosed trailer. Save yourself the money and ship via open trailer. However, if you are using automobile transporters to move a high value or delicate car, then you should look into the enclosed trailer option which most auto transporters offer. If they don’t, you may want to look at other auto shippers.
